Principal Bertha Alvarez leads the Super Stars at Smith Elementary School. She has 35 years of experience in education, including 18 years in Lamar CISD. Ms. Alvarez has served as a bilingual paraprofessional, parent liaison, bilingual specialist, assistant principal, and principal throughout her career. She earned her bachelor's degree from Alverno College and her master's degree from Lamar University and is passionate about advocating for multilingual learners and their families. As a proud product of bilingual education, Mrs. Alvarez is committed to creating opportunities for all students to succeed and believes that being bilingual and biliterate empowers learners to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world.
